hey whats up youtube hope you're doingwell today i have a tutorial on designing a business card.

i'm going torun through how you set up your document firstly in Photoshop and then how todesign the artwork in Photoshop for your business card from there i will show youhow to set up your printer document in indesign and how to explore the businesscard and the artwork from Photoshop to indesign ready for print the first thing you need to establishwith your client or if this is your business card established with yourselfare the dimensions I've put a link in the description belowor various dimensions used in the industry around the world summerportrait in summer landscape i personally prefer to use portraitdesigns as you can see here for my most reason business card design here is adesign preprint and then again afterwards you can see have changed itslightly but i'm really proud of how this came out and this is a design formyself however the most generic and most commondimensions used that I've been counted when designing a business card is 85millimeters by 55 millimetres landscape once you have the dimensions establishedwe need to set up your document in Photoshop you must understand that inthe printing industry and the design industry there is something known as ableed I bleed is a term that is used to describe a document which has images ofelements that touch the edge of the page extending beyond the trim edge leavingno white margin when a document has a bleed it must be printed on a largersheet of paper and then trim down I think I bleed is professional andhelps the printer cut down your design effectively I and many other designers use threemillimeter bleed around the entire design business cards so let's set upyour document and photoshop rest here's a quick tip or hack for you guysgo to new document and put in dimensions so 85 millimeters by 55 millimeters andyou want to use 300ppi which will give the best quality for something this sizethis right now has no blade so drag for guides and down to each edge of thecanvas then give up to image canvas size andadd six millimeters too both measurements you had six and not threebecause you want three millimeters around the entire canvas there will besix millimeters in total in height and width if that makes sense so thedocument will be 91 millimeters by 61 millimeters in total which would includea three millimeter bleed around the entire design from here you can go anddesign your artwork remembering that anything outside of these guys will becut out and throw away the printing process to keep your most importantinformation such as contact info etc within these margins the artwork side ofthis is going to be completely up to you of course and your design spec justremember that anything outside of these margins will be cut away and decided ihave here a designer did back in $MONTH 2015 for fashion label I had to designthe logo and the business cards as part of the full branding project i'm goingto use this for the purposes of this video but once you have you outwork youneed to save the jpeg but it's best to flatten this beforehand to go to layerflatten image yeah yeah now open up in design and create a newdocument make sure print is selected and then click two pages you want to use themeasures we did back in photoshop so 85 millimeters by 55 millimeters and thenclick three millimeters for the bleed and select this icon right here tospread across the entire canvas you can preview your canvas by clicking here orjust go ahead and generate it and you should have something that looks likethis go ahead and select the box tool hereand create a new box over the entire page including a bleed once you've done that select the whitearrow tool here and highlight the bugs edited file and then place find yourimage and click it it should fit perfectly if you used theright measurements if the quantity looks bad like this its most likely becausethey're humaid on your desktop not set high quality to change that go to viewscreen display performance and then high-quality never repeat this for theother side and your business card is almost print-ready make sure to save your document beforeyou go and exports once you have saved it go to file export you want to selectAdobe PDF or print make sure to select the most recent version of acrobateither for the layout when printing business cards to choose to a continuousfacing an impression you should have these values marks and bleeds and selectprinter marks or printer monks and for the output no color conversion afterthat the export and you have it finished you can check the quality of your workin acrobat reader you can check for any anomalies or any issues that have arisenand of course your client can check it to your business card is now print-readyI want to hear your comments on your thoughts not only on this video but forfuture videos so don't be shy make sure to subscribe for futurecontent and until next time design your future today peace yeah.
